About Our Approach

Why Desert Roots Wellness

You probably don't need more advice. You need to understand the pattern underneath it.

You may already know that you need stronger boundaries. You may already know that something needs to change. You may even know exactly what decision you should make.

Knowing and doing are not the same thing.

Desert Roots Wellness was built for the space between the two — the patterns underneath burnout, people-pleasing, chronic self-doubt, overfunctioning, avoidance, and the life that looks successful but no longer feels like yours.

We combine practical coaching with a Mind, Body, Soul approach so you can understand why the pattern keeps repeating, what keeps reinforcing it, and what to do differently in real life.

What Sets Us Apart

The Desert Roots Difference

We don't start by asking, “How do we make you more productive?”

We start by asking: What keeps making this necessary?

Why do you keep saying yes after deciding you were going to say no?

Why do you know what you want and still ask five other people what they think?

Why does success keep requiring more of you than you actually want to give?

Why do the same relationship, work, leadership, or family patterns keep appearing in different forms?

Why does slowing down feel harder than staying overwhelmed?

Those questions matter because a surface-level solution can change your behavior temporarily while leaving the underlying pattern untouched.

At Desert Roots Wellness, the goal isn't to make you better at tolerating a life that doesn't fit.

The goal is to help you build one that does.

01

We work underneath the symptom

Burnout is rarely only about the calendar. People-pleasing is rarely only about learning to say no. Indecision is rarely only about making a pros-and-cons list.

We look at the beliefs, behavioral patterns, relationships, body responses, expectations, and internal rules reinforcing the problem.

We don't only ask what you're doing. We look at what keeps making you do it.

02

Mind, Body, and Soul are treated as one system

Real change becomes difficult when only one part of the person changes.

Mind — your thoughts, beliefs, stories, decisions, and learned patterns. Body — stress responses, physical awareness, habits, and the way pressure shows up physically. Soul — your values, identity, needs, purpose, relationships, and the life that actually feels like yours.

The Desert Roots Wellness Method™ connects all three rather than treating them as separate problems.

03

Insight has to become behavior

A great conversation can feel powerful. But if Tuesday looks exactly like Monday, insight alone wasn't enough.

Our work is intentionally practical. Depending on what you're working through, that can include specific boundary conversations, decision-making frameworks, reflection exercises, behavioral experiments, daily practices, accountability, between-session homework, progress tracking, and applying the work to actual relationships, careers, businesses, and decisions.

You should leave knowing what you are going to do differently — not just what you discovered about yourself.

04

The work is rooted in lived experience

Desert Roots Wellness wasn't created from theory alone.

Samka spent years simultaneously coaching privately and operating at an executive level, eventually serving as Vice President and COO while managing a multimillion-dollar P&L.

Tyler spent two decades in transportation education, leadership, operations, workforce development, and practical career coaching.

They know what it looks like to lead, perform, make difficult decisions, manage people, carry responsibility, and eventually ask whether the life you've built still fits the person you've become.

That matters when the person sitting across from you is accomplished, capable — and exhausted from being the one who always figures it out.

05

Formal training matters

Coaching is an unregulated field. That is exactly why training and professional standards matter to us.

Samka's training includes Life Coaching, Transformational Coaching, Neuroscience Coaching, Trauma Healing Coaching, NLP, Meditation Coaching, and Geo Love Healing. Training programs represented on the DRW website are accredited or recognized through CPD, NCCAP, CMA, IPHM, and ICAHP.

But certifications are not the point by themselves. The point is knowing when to coach, how to coach responsibly, and when someone's needs belong outside the scope of coaching.

06

We are willing to tell you when we are not the right answer

The free Clarity Call is not designed to pressure someone into a program.

It exists to answer: What is actually going on here? What kind of support might help? Are we the right people to provide it?

Sometimes that means coaching. Sometimes a self-guided resource is enough. And sometimes someone's needs are better served by a licensed mental-health professional or another provider.

The goal isn't to enroll everyone. It's to help the right person take the right next step.

What We Don't Do

What You Won't Find Here

This isn't motivation dressed up as transformation.

Endless positive thinking

We aren't going to ask you to repeat affirmations over a pattern that needs to be understood and changed.

Open-ended conversation without application

Reflection matters. So does what happens after the session.

A one-size-fits-all life plan

Your goal is not to become more like us. It's to become more able to hear and trust yourself.

Pressure to stay dependent on coaching

Good coaching should increase your ability to navigate your own life — not make you afraid to make a decision without your coach.

The Method

A Structured Path

You don't have to work on everything at once.

The Desert Roots Wellness Method™ was designed to organize personal growth into a clearer system.

20 Blueprints — focused work on specific patterns.

5 Collections — connected areas grouped into a practical progression.

1 Method — a full Mind, Body, Soul framework for understanding how the patterns reinforce one another.

Whether someone starts with one Blueprint, a Collection, a self-guided program, or private coaching, the objective is the same: Find the real starting point. Do the work that belongs there. Then build from it.

Is This Right for You?

Desert Roots Wellness may be right for you if…

  • You are successful on paper but increasingly disconnected from the life you've built.
  • You are tired of being the person everyone depends on.
  • You know how to perform but don't always know how to stop.
  • You routinely put other people's comfort ahead of your own needs.
  • You struggle to trust your decisions without reassurance.
  • You understand your patterns intellectually but keep repeating them.
  • You are navigating a career, relationship, leadership, identity, or major life transition.
  • You want structure and accountability — not just encouragement.
  • You are willing to do work between conversations.
  • You want change that can survive real life, not just feel good during a session.

We may not be the right fit if…

  • You are looking for someone to tell you exactly how to live your life.
  • You want a quick motivational boost without changing your behavior.
  • You are unwilling to examine your own role in recurring patterns.
  • You want someone else to do the work for you.
  • You are currently experiencing a mental-health crisis or need diagnosis/treatment that belongs within licensed clinical care.

Desert Roots Wellness provides coaching, not psychotherapy or clinical mental-health treatment. If you are currently in crisis or require diagnosis or treatment by a licensed mental-health professional, we will always refer you to the appropriate provider.

Most people don't come to Desert Roots because they don't know enough.

They come because knowing hasn't been enough to change what keeps happening.

What people arrive with

  • They know they need stronger boundaries — and still can't hold them.
  • They know the decision they want to make — and still ask everyone else first.
  • They've read the books, tried the frameworks, understood the pattern intellectually.
  • They're high-functioning and exhausted from being the person who always figures it out.
  • They've worked on themselves before — and something still keeps repeating.

What We're Building

  • Clarity about what actually keeps triggering the pattern — not just the symptom.
  • The ability to act on what you already know, consistently and in real situations.
  • A structure for change that works under pressure, not just in a coaching session.
  • Decisions made from your values — not from fear of disappointing someone.
  • Behavior that matches intention — and the self-trust to maintain it.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Desert Roots Wellness different from traditional life coaching?

Traditional coaching often focuses primarily on goals, mindset, planning, and accountability. Desert Roots Wellness works with those areas while also examining the patterns underneath them — including self-abandonment, people-pleasing, weak boundaries, chronic self-doubt, identity misalignment, stress responses, and values. The approach combines practical coaching with a Mind, Body, Soul framework and structured between-session application.

Is Desert Roots Wellness therapy?

No. Desert Roots Wellness provides coaching, not psychotherapy or mental-health treatment. We do not diagnose or treat mental-health disorders. Coaching is designed for people who are able to engage in forward-focused personal development, decision-making, behavior change, boundaries, leadership, relationships, and life-direction work.

Do I have to commit to private coaching?

No. Desert Roots Wellness offers multiple starting points, including free resources, digital toolkits, Blueprints, Collections, self-guided programs, and private coaching. The right starting point depends on the level of support and accountability you need.

What happens during a Clarity Call?

The free 30-minute Clarity Call is a conversation about what is happening, what you have already tried, what appears to be keeping you stuck, and what type of support may be appropriate. It is not intended to pressure you into buying a program.

Can I work with Desert Roots Wellness from outside the United States?

Yes. Coaching sessions are conducted virtually, allowing clients to work with Desert Roots Wellness from locations around the world, subject to applicable service limitations.

What if I don't know what I need?

That is exactly what the Clarity Call is designed to help with. You do not need to diagnose your own pattern before starting. The first step is identifying the area that appears to be creating the most friction and choosing an appropriate place to begin.

Take the First Step

Your Next Step

You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin.

You just need an honest place to start.

If something in your life keeps repeating — the exhaustion, the overthinking, the people-pleasing, the decision you keep postponing, or the quiet feeling that the life you're living doesn't quite fit anymore — we can start there.
