Burnout Coaching
For many high achievers, burnout is less about working too much than it is about building a life around other people's definitions of success for so long that you've forgotten what yours looks like. This is the work of finding it again.

Burnout coaching isn't about helping you rest and then return to the same exhausting pattern. That's a break, not a fix. Real burnout recovery means identifying why you burned out in the first place — and changing the underlying structure.
For most of the high achievers we work with, burnout looks like this:
You're exhausted in a way that sleep doesn't fix
You've achieved everything you aimed for and feel nothing about it
You keep showing up for everyone else and running on empty for yourself
The life you're living looks great from the outside and feels hollow from the inside
You've tried pushing through, taking breaks, and cutting things out — and you're still here
For many high achievers, that pattern points less to a workload problem and more to a misalignment problem — and that's what burnout coaching is designed to address.
A common pattern beneath high-achiever burnout
Samka spent more than 20 years in business and leadership, including VP and COO roles, before burnout made it impossible to keep going. Looking back, the exhaustion wasn't the problem — it was the signal. The problem was chronic self-abandonment: saying yes to everything that was expected, making decisions based on what others needed, and building a career that looked like success but was actually a very well-maintained performance.
Our burnout coaching is built on what we've learned from that experience — and from working with many clients over those years who've been in the same place. In many of the high-achieving clients we work with, the patterns underneath burnout often include:
Chronic people-pleasing
Decisions made to avoid conflict, not to honor your own needs.
Self-abandonment
Showing up fully for everyone else and leaving nothing for yourself.
Misaligned commitments
A calendar full of things you agreed to for the wrong reasons.
Living by others' expectations
A life built around someone else's definition of success.
How burnout coaching works
We work with you over 60–90 minute sessions, one-on-one with Samka or Tyler. The first phase focuses on understanding your specific burnout pattern — where it started, what's maintaining it, and what you actually want instead. From there, we build a practical roadmap: clearer boundaries, better decision-making tools, and a daily structure that supports recovery instead of quietly undermining it.
Our approach uses the Mind, Body, Soul framework — which means we address burnout at every level, not just cognitively. That includes nervous system regulation, somatic practices, and energetic boundary work drawn from our Geo Love Healing certification. Because burnout doesn't just live in your calendar. It lives in your body.
Clients enrolled in the 90-day private coaching package also receive access to the Collaboration Line for between-session support when an important decision, boundary, or situation comes up before the next scheduled session.
Common questions
What is burnout coaching?
Burnout coaching helps high achievers identify and address the real causes of exhaustion — not just the workload, but the patterns that produced it. At Desert Roots Wellness, we work with clients to uncover the specific drivers behind their burnout: chronic people-pleasing, self-abandonment, misaligned commitments, and a life built around others' expectations rather than their own. A burnout coach gives you practical tools to rebuild energy, establish sustainable limits, and redesign the structures of your daily life so they stop draining you. This is not a rest-and-return approach. It's a root-cause approach — identifying what broke down and changing it so it doesn't break down again.
Is burnout coaching the same as therapy?
No. Therapy is a clinical service focused on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, often by processing past experiences and trauma. Burnout coaching is forward-focused — we work on the specific patterns, decisions, and daily habits that are maintaining the burnout right now, and we build practical tools to change them. Coaching does not involve diagnosis and is not a substitute for clinical care. If a client needs therapeutic support, we always refer them to the appropriate professional. The two can complement each other: therapy addresses the roots of deep patterns, while coaching builds the practical structure for how you operate day to day.
How long does burnout recovery take?
The timeline is different for every client. Some clients begin noticing greater clarity, awareness, or changes in daily patterns within the first several sessions. More sustained change often develops over several months and depends on how long the underlying patterns have been present, what needs to change, and how consistently the client engages between sessions. Our coaching provides a structured process with homework and accountability so progress can build from one session to the next.
How much does burnout coaching cost?
A single 60–90 minute private coaching session is $300. The 90-day private coaching package is $2,500 and includes regular private sessions, personalized milestones, homework and accountability, between-session support, and access to the Collaboration Line.
Quick Answers
What does a burnout coach do?
A burnout coach helps you identify the root cause of exhaustion — typically chronic self-abandonment, people-pleasing, and misaligned commitments — and builds practical tools to change those patterns. At Desert Roots Wellness, sessions are 60–90 minutes, one-on-one, and combine practical frameworks with mind-body-soul work to address burnout at every level, not just cognitively.
Is burnout coaching worth it?
For high achievers stuck in cycles of exhaustion despite rest or time off, burnout coaching directly targets the behavioral and identity-level patterns maintaining the burnout. Clients at Desert Roots Wellness may begin noticing meaningful shifts within the first several sessions. The 90-day coaching package is $2,500; single sessions are $300.
Can you recover from burnout without quitting your job?
Yes. At Desert Roots Wellness, we work with clients who stay in demanding roles. Recovery focuses on changing the internal patterns — people-pleasing, self-abandonment, misaligned decision-making — that drain energy regardless of the job. The goal is sustainable high performance, not retreat from ambition.
What is the difference between burnout and depression?
Burnout is primarily a state of chronic depletion caused by sustained misalignment between your values, needs, and how you are living. Depression is a clinical mental health condition. While they can overlap, burnout coaching is not a substitute for clinical care. If a client shows signs of depression, Desert Roots Wellness always refers them to the appropriate professional.
