Boundary Setting Coach

Limits aren't walls. They're the honest line between what you can sustain and what you can't. The problem isn't that you don't know what your limits are — it's that you've been taught to treat your own needs as the last thing worth protecting.

Why limits are hard — and why "just say no" doesn't work

Boundary setting coaching addresses the reason limits fail — which is almost never a communication problem. Most people know what they want to say. What stops them is the weight of the guilt, the anticipation of the other person's reaction, and the deeply held belief that keeping others comfortable is more important than honoring their own needs.

That belief didn't appear from nowhere. It was learned — usually early, usually in the context of relationships where love felt conditional on accommodation. Boundary coaching works at the level of the belief, not just the behavior.

You say yes and immediately resent it

You know what you want to say but can't make yourself say it

You set a limit and collapse when someone pushes back

The guilt after saying no feels worse than the exhaustion of always saying yes

You've been called selfish for having needs — and part of you believes it

You can hold limits at work but completely fall apart with family

What boundary coaching addresses

Our approach goes beyond teaching you what to say. We work on the specific patterns that make limits collapse under pressure.

People-pleasing & conflict avoidance

The pattern of prioritizing others' comfort over your own needs — and the cost that accumulates over time.

Guilt after saying no

Why guilt fires after a limit — and how to move through it without abandoning the limit.

Family & relationship limits

The hardest kind — where the fear isn't disappointment but losing love entirely.

Workplace limits

How to protect your capacity at work without damaging relationships or standing.

Chronic over-commitment

The pattern of saying yes before your body has even finished registering no.

Holding limits under pressure

Why limits collapse when someone pushes back — and how to stay grounded when they do.

How boundary coaching works

We work with you in 60–90 minute sessions, one-on-one with Samka or Tyler. The first phase maps your specific pattern: where limits fail, what guilt looks like in your body, and which relationships have the most charge around this work.

From there, we build the practical tools: how to communicate limits clearly, how to hold them when people push back, and how to survive the guilt without collapsing the limit to make it go away.

Our approach uses the Mind, Body, Soul framework — which means we address limits cognitively, somatically, and at the level of values. Because limit work isn't just a communication challenge. It's an identity challenge. You're changing a deep belief about whose comfort matters most.

Common questions

What is boundary setting coaching?

Boundary setting coaching is a structured process that helps you identify where your limits are, communicate them clearly, and hold them — especially when other people push back. At Desert Roots Wellness, it goes beyond scripts. We address the underlying patterns that make limits so hard: people-pleasing, chronic guilt, fear of conflict, and the belief that your needs matter less than everyone else's.

Why is it so hard to set limits with family?

Because the fear is different. With colleagues, the concern is standing and professionalism. With family, the fear often runs existential — that a limit will cost you love or belonging. That fear was usually shaped in an environment where your needs were consistently treated as secondary. Boundary coaching helps you understand where that fear came from and how to move through it without letting it make every decision for you.

Will limits push people away?

Healthy limits don't push the right people away. They may create friction with people who benefited from you having none. The relationships that survive honest limits are almost always stronger than the ones maintained through chronic accommodation. What you risk is not the loss of good relationships — it's the discomfort of renegotiating ones that were built on you being available without condition.
