Authenticity Coaching

You didn't lose yourself in one dramatic moment. You lost yourself one small accommodation at a time — editing, adjusting, and shrinking to keep everyone else comfortable. Authenticity coaching is the process of hearing your own voice again and building a life that actually fits the person underneath the performance.

The performance you've been running

Authenticity coaching starts with a question most high achievers avoid: who are you when no one needs anything from you? Not the version that performs well at work. Not the version that keeps the peace at home. The version that exists underneath the edits — the one you've been slowly quieting for years.

For most high achievers, that version has gone quiet not because it disappeared, but because abandoning it was rewarded. Every accommodation earned approval. every self-edit avoided conflict. Every "yes" that should have been a "no" kept someone else comfortable. The cost was internal — and it accumulated. As Samka wrote in Fast Company, burnout isn't a workload problem. It's a self-abandonment problem. Authenticity coaching is the work of reversing it.

You agree to things and feel a quiet drop in your stomach every time

You can't remember the last time you said what you actually thought

You're good at reading a room and terrible at reading yourself

Your life looks right from the outside and feels off from the inside

You edit your opinions before they leave your mouth — automatically

You feel exhausted not from the work, but from the performance

What authenticity coaching addresses

Authenticity isn't a personality trait you either have or don't. It's a practice — one you rebuild through small, kept promises to yourself. Here's what that work actually covers.

Chronic self-abandonment

The pattern of overriding your own needs, values, and judgment to keep others comfortable — and how to interrupt it.

People-pleasing at the root

Not the surface behavior, but the belief underneath it: that you're only acceptable when you're useful.

Hearing your own voice again

Reconnecting to the opinions, wants, and instincts you've spent years editing out of the room.

Boundaries as self-respect

Building boundaries that aren't walls or punishments — they're the structure that lets the real you stay in the room.

Decision-making from values

A framework for choosing from what you actually value instead of what will keep everyone else calm.

Rebuilding self-trust

Self-trust doesn't come from affirmations. It comes from keeping small promises to yourself — repeatedly, over time.

How authenticity coaching works

We work with you in 60–90 minute sessions, one-on-one with Samka or Tyler. The first phase is honest examination: where have you been abandoning yourself, what has the self-editing cost you, and what does the version underneath the performance actually want?

From there, we build concrete practices: the Daily Authenticity Anchor for morning and evening, boundary work for the relationships where you disappear most, and a decision filter that runs on your values instead of someone else's expectations. Authenticity coaching at Desert Roots Wellness uses the Mind, Body, Soul framework — which means we address the work at the level of behavior, identity, and values simultaneously. A boundary is also an identity statement. A kept promise to yourself is also a values claim. Real authenticity work touches all three.

Clients enrolled in the 90-day private coaching package also receive access to the Collaboration Line for between-session support around the moments that cannot always wait until the next scheduled session — the hard conversation, the boundary you're about to drop, the decision you're about to outsource.

Common questions

What is authenticity coaching?

Authenticity coaching is a structured process that helps you stop performing a version of your life that doesn't fit and start building one rooted in what you actually value. At Desert Roots Wellness, it starts from a simple premise: most high achievers don't have an authenticity problem — they have a self-abandonment problem. You've spent so long adjusting yourself to keep others comfortable that the authentic version of you has gone quiet. Authenticity coaching is the process of hearing it again and building a life around it.

How is authenticity coaching different from therapy?

Therapy addresses clinical mental health concerns, past trauma, and healing. Authenticity coaching is forward-looking and behavioral — it's about identifying the gap between who you are and who you've been performing, then building concrete practices, boundaries, and decisions that close it. Coaching is not a substitute for therapy, and we'll tell you clearly if what you're carrying needs a therapist's scope rather than a coach's.

Who is this for?

High-performing professionals who look successful on the outside but feel like they're playing a role on the inside. People-pleasers, chronic over-accommodators, and high achievers who got where they are by ignoring their own needs and now want to stop. If you're tired of editing yourself to be acceptable to everyone else, this is the work.

How much does authenticity coaching cost?

A single 60–90 minute private coaching session is $300. The 90-day private coaching package is $2,500 and includes regular private coaching sessions, personalized milestones, homework and accountability, between-session support, and access to the Collaboration Line.
